Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Massachusetts is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to support specimen collection, processing, and data entry within a busy laboratory. You will handle incoming specimens, assign accession numbers, and ensure accurate triage and routing of materials across the lab.

The role is full-time, on-site, with a mixed schedule and non-exempt status. A high school diploma and familiarity with medical terminology are required, with bonus eligibility possible during the interview

Qualifications

• High School graduate with basic data entry and medical terminology knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Receives specimens from couriers and verifies counts on manifests.
• Logs and assigns accession numbers to specimens and requisitions.
• Sorts and triages requisitions and specimens to the correct workstation.
• Answers phones and communicates pertinent information; sends specimens to sites and troubleshoots pneumatic tube systems.
• Processes specimens including centrifugation, pour-off, aliquoting, and labeling.
• Registers outreach specimens received from clients.
