Job summary

Schedule is 1st shift (0700-1530) with every third weekend and rotating holidays. Qualifications include a High School diploma or GED; no prior experience required.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy or related laboratory function knowledge.
• Basic computer skills including experience using computer software applications.
• Keyboarding and typing skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated customer service skills with physicians, patients, visitors, and healthcare staff.

Responsibilities

• Verifies patient identification to ensure safety.
• Performs venipuncture and collects specimens from newborn to adult patients.
• Labeling and proper handling of specimens for testing.
• Conducts limited testing under CLIA guidelines per policies.
• Answers and screens phone calls; supports inventory and billing-related tasks.
• Accepts and processes specimens from various customers; packs and tracks for transport.
• Orders and verifies test requests; documents data for QA and generates reports.
• Performs data entry of laboratory results.
• Instructs staff in phlebotomy and specimen processing.
• Demonstrates age-appropriate care and knowledge of patient development.
