Job summary

Advocate Health in Burlington, VT is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform venipuncture and specimen collection for newborns to adults. You will ensure correct labeling, assist with specimens processing, and support billing and inventory tasks. The role requires High School graduation and no prior experience.

2nd shift with weekend rotation and holiday coverage is included. The position offers full-time hours (40 per week) and a pay range of $19.80–$29.70 per hour, with benefits and career growth

Qualifications

• Demonstrates knowledge and experience in phlebotomy or related laboratory function.
• Basic computer skills including experience using computer software applications.
• Keyboarding and typing skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Good listening skills.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Demonstrated customer service skills to interface effectively with physicians, patients, visitors, and other healthcare employees.

Responsibilities

• Verifies positive patient identification to ensure patient safety.
• Performs Venipuncture and collects specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients.
• Ensures specimens are properly labeled and suitable for testing.
• Performs limited testing under CLIA guidelines according to policy.
• Answers and screens telephone calls and assists with inventory.
• Processes specimens for testing and documents information for quality assurance.
• Runs quality control checks and notifies providers of abnormal results.
• Instructs employees and students in phlebotomy and specimen processing.
