Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a part-time Phlebotomist to join our WI ACL Laboratories team. The role involves venipuncture, specimen collection, labeling, and basic testing under CLIA guidelines. The candidate will support billing, data entry, and quality control in a fast-paced environment.

Second shift responsibilities include 12:30pm–9:00pm with every other weekend and holiday rotation. Prior phlebotomy experience is preferred but not required; High School diploma required.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates knowledge and experience in phlebotomy or related laboratory function.
• Basic computer skills including experience using computer software applications.
• Keyboarding and typing skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Good listening skills.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Demonstrated customer service skills to interface effectively with physicians, patients, visitors, and other healthcare employees.

Responsibilities

• Verifies positive patient identification to ensure patient safety.
• Performs venipuncture and collects specimens from newborn to adult patients.
• Ensures specimens are properly labeled and suitable for testing.
• Performs limited testing under CLIA guidelines.
• Answers and screens telephone calls; assists with inventory and billing support.
• Receives, processes and transports specimens; handles pre-analytical steps.
• Orders and verifies test requests; enters data and runs quality control checks.
• Instructs employees and students in phlebotomy and specimen processing.
• Demonstrates age-appropriate patient care and teamwork.
