Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Phlebotomy Program Supervisor to assist in scheduling, training, and supervising phlebotomists and clerical staff. You will also help develop policies and maintain program records, ensuring adherence to procedures.

You will regularly perform phlebotomy duties and coordinate patient testing processes, contributing to a compliant and efficient lab environment on-site in Providence, RI.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy certificate through NAACLS and/or completion of a phlebotomy program with internship showing 100 successful venipunctures.
• In lieu of internship, 6 months phlebotomy experience may be considered.
• In lieu of phlebotomy certification, 5+ years direct phlebotomy experience may be considered.
• Minimum 5 years of phlebotomy experience required.
• Ability to perform venipuncture on adults, children and infants.
• Interpersonal skills to communicate with patients and explain procedures.
• Clerical skills to prepare and maintain records and reports, including data entry.

Responsibilities

• Prepare staffing schedules for Phlebotomists for supervisor approval and arrange coverage.
• Prepare daily assignments for Phlebotomists and clerical staff.
• Occasionally round on clinical units to confirm samples and troubleshoot issues.
• Train new Phlebotomists and Medical Technologist students in venipuncture and finger sticks.
• Regularly assist with phlebotomy of patients.
• Participate in interviewing and selecting Phlebotomists and provide input on performance.
• Help develop or revise policies and procedures for phlebotomy and ensure adherence.
• Maintain records and statistics on payroll, workload and program activities.
