• Strong knowledge of phlebotomy practices and laboratory workflows.
• Experience in a hospital or large healthcare system.
• Experience in a unionized environment.
• Lean/Six Sigma experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily phlebotomy operations across inpatient, outpatient, and ambulatory settings.
• Interview, hire, schedule, train, assign work and, when needed, discipline staff within area of responsibility.
• Provide guidance to resolve complex employee relations matters.
• Ensure staffing coverage, scheduling, and productivity to meet service demands.
• Monitor workflow efficiency, turnaround times, and service quality; implement improvements.
• Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate phlebotomy staff and supervisors.
• Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, The Joint Commission, OSHA standards.
• May assist in instruction of students and orientation of new employees.
• Maintain quality metrics related to specimen integrity and collection accuracy.
• Participate in budgeting, labor management, and operational reporting.
• Serve as liaison between Laboratory Services, nursing, and clinical departments.
