The Lifespan system, including The Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI, seeks a Manager of Phlebotomy to lead daily operations, staffing, and quality oversight across locations. You will drive safe, efficient specimen collection and collaboration with clinical teams, while supporting patient experience and staff development.

The role requires leadership experience in phlebotomy, relevant certifications, and a strong focus on regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.

Qualificações

• Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Current phlebotomy or Med Lab Science certification (ASCP, AMT, NHA, or equivalent). Certification in phlebotomy is desired but specialized knowledge can be obtained through equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive phlebotomy, administrative or clinical laboratory experience, including 2+ years in leadership.
• Experience managing phlebotomy operations in a hospital or large healthcare system.
• Experience in a unionized environment.
• Performance improvement or Lean/Six Sigma experience.
• Strong leadership and people-management skills.
• Excellent communication and organization abilities.

Responsabilidades

• Oversee daily phlebotomy operations across inpatient, outpatient, and/or ambulatory settings.
• Interviews, hires, schedules, trains, assigns work, evaluates, and when necessary, provides for discipline and discharge of employees within area of responsibility.
• Provide guidance to resolve sensitive/complex employee relations matters.
• Ensure staffing coverage, scheduling, and productivity to meet service demands.
• Monitor workflow efficiency, turnaround times, and service quality and implement improvements.
• Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate staff and supervisors.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., CLIA, CAP, The Joint Commission, OSHA).
• Maintain quality metrics related to specimen integrity and collection accuracy.
• Participate in budgeting, labor management, and operational reporting.
• Serve as a liaison between Laboratory Services, nursing, and clinical departments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
