Job summary

Care New England seeks a Phlebotomy Supervisor to lead both outpatient and inpatient phlebotomy operations under the Laboratory Manager. The role includes supervising staff, training new hires, and ensuring quality and efficiency across departments.

Responsibilities cover hiring, evaluations, policy development, inventory control, and timely specimen delivery. A phlebotomy certificate and 1–3 years of related experience are required, with supervisory experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School diploma or GED with vocational/technical training.
• Phlebotomy certificate is required.
• Minimum 1–3 years of related experience; supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of venipuncture and specimen collection procedures.
• Able to perform quality control activities and support quality improvement efforts.
• Excellent skills in inventory and supplies management.
• Familiarity with healthcare documentation and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Performs all duties of outpatient draw stations and inpatient phlebotomy services across age groups.
• Oversees staff, assigns work, and provides guidance.
• Orients and trains new employees.
• Assists with setup of new outpatient services and disciplinary actions as needed.
• Develops or revises procedures to improve workflow and productivity.
• Maintains departmental records filing system.
• Responds to inquiries from physicians and patients by phone.
• Prepares statistical reports for the Laboratory Manager.
