Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes and directs daily activities of inpatient and outpatient phlebotomists and patient service staff.
• Ensures phlebotomy coverage with trained personnel.
• Schedules adequate staffing to meet needs across hospital, outreach, and medical offices.
• Maintains and updates manuals for specimen collection and processing.
• Participates in problem-solving for customer service and patient safety.
• Supervises staff training and competency evaluation.
• Manages quality assurance activities and reports monthly.
• Provides statistical analyses of volumes and trends to improve operations.
• Recommends staffing and personnel actions to leadership.
• Trains phlebotomists in all phases of collection and processing.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and coordinates with administration.
• Ensures compliance with safety, infection control and regulatory standards.
• Processes time and attendance records and enforces HR policy.
• Monitors mobile phlebotomy coverage for contracted sites.
• Develops phlebotomy school or partnerships for training.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
