Job summary

Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center is seeking a Lab Supervisor to plan, supervise, and improve phlebotomy operations. The role ensures quality, regulatory compliance, scheduling, and effective teamwork within the department.

Responsibilities include developing manuals, coordinating testing and QC, and communicating with clinicians to maintain high laboratory standards in a patient-centered care environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in human relations, communications and management skills required.
• Certification by ASCP or AMT or equivalent preferred for advanced roles.
• Bachelor degree in clinical laboratory science or related field required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage and supervise phlebotomy department activities.
• Ensure quality and productivity, compliance and cost controls.
• Hire, train, orient, mentor, and promote teamwork within the department.
• Develop and maintain procedure manuals in line with regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate staff schedules for adequate coverage and efficiency.
• Monitor QC and proficiency testing and address out-of-control results.
• Communicate with pathologists, nurses and clinicians to ensure testing quality.
• Oversee supplies, staff performance evaluations, and budget resources.
