Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to perform specimen collection by venipuncture at hospital and off-site locations. You will collect specimens, ensure proper labeling, and guide patients through the process.

You will input data into hospital information systems, adhere to infection-control policies, and assist with quality control and staff training. A high school diploma is required, with preferred certification and prior lab experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certified phlebotomy technician preferred.
• Previous experience drawing blood or in a phlebotomy training program is preferred.
• Previous clinical laboratory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs specimen collection by phlebotomy from the correct individual at in-house or off-site locations.
• Obtains other specimens as indicated and educates patients on collection procedures.
• Enter pathology specimens into LIS/LIS systems and ensure ABN compliance.
• Maintain safe, clean work environment and comply with infection-control policies.
• Assist with quality control and training of new staff.
