Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certified phlebotomy technician preferred.
• Previous experience drawing blood or phlebotomy training.
• Experience in a clinical laboratory environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs proper specimen collection (blood and non-blood) with patient prep, labeling, handling, and storage.
• Collects and verifies patient data and test orders in HIS/LIS systems.
• Processes specimens following established guidelines.
• Maintains a safe, clean work environment and follows infection-control policies.
• Performs waived tests and assists other testing platforms under supervision.
• Participates in quality control and performance improvement activities.
• Ensures standards of quality, timeliness, and customer service.
• Orients and trains new staff as needed.
• Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements for the department.
• Answers calls, performs computer tasks, prints reports, and provides test results.
• Performs therapeutic phlebotomies as required.
• Dispatches and tracks specimens/slides for consults and referrals.
