Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Experience drawing blood or completion of an approved phlebotomy program preferred.
• Prior experience in a clinical laboratory environment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Performs specimen collection by phlebotomy from the correct individual and handles specimens per guidelines.
• Registers and verifies patient data and test orders in LIS/HIS with ABN compliance.
• Prepares, processes, preserves, and stores specimens according to guidelines.
• Maintains infection-control and safety policies in the work area.
• Performs waived tests and assists with other testing platforms under supervision.
• Contributes to quality control and performance improvement activities.
• Trains new staff and supports regulatory compliance.
• Responds to calls, generates reports, and communicates test results.
• Performs therapeutic phlebotomies as required.
• Dispatches and tracks specimens/slides for consults and referrals.
