Job summary

The Toledo Clinic, Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Support/Phlebotomy Assistant to assist staff with venipuncture and capillary puncture on patients at our Toledo, OH facility.

You will work under the Administrative Laboratory Manager, handling specimens, maintaining records, and supporting reference lab needs. Required are a HS diploma or GED and a Phlebotomy diploma; certification and experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy diploma from an accredited school.
• Preferred: Phlebotomy certification and 6 months experience.
• Certified Phlebotomist credentials are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist laboratory staff with venipuncture and capillary puncture.
• Verify patient and specimen identification and document discrepancies.
• Prepare all types of lab specimens per procedures and reference requirements.
• Perform simple maintenance of equipment and monitor temperatures.
• Maintain records of specimens picked up or sent to outside labs.
• Transport infectious waste to designated pickup and sign manifests.
• Address STAT requests promptly and notify the technical team.
