Job summary

Greater Baltimore Medical Center, Inc. in Towson is seeking a Phlebotomy Lab Assistant to collect, accession and process pathology and laboratory specimens while providing timely lab information to customers.

Under supervision, you will assist in training co-workers and students and ensure accurate documentation and adherence to safety policies. The position runs 5:00 AM–1:30 PM with every other weekend, holidays, and on-call requirements.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• 6 months related phlebotomy experience or 6 months accessioning experience.
• Ability to type and use computer applications.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and phlebotomy practices.

Responsibilities

• Extracts blood from patients of all ages using aseptic venipuncture.
• Document all phlebotomy rounds with accuracy.
• Enter demographics and test orders into the system; verify specimen collection/receipt.
• Prepare and process specimens for testing (labeling, measuring, aliquoting, centrifuging).
• Maintain donor room QC and perform required donor documentation.
