Job summary

Bassett Healthcare Network is seeking a Laboratory Support Technician to perform phlebotomy and specimen processing in a busy clinical setting in New York. You will collect specimens, verify patient information, and coordinate with the LIS to ensure accurate test results.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 1 year of experience in similar capacity is preferred.
• CPT-A Phlebotomy Certification (CPT) preferred

Responsibilities

• Identifies patients by verifying name, DOB, and MRN before specimen collection.
• Communicates with patients about procedures, and maintains HIPAA confidentiality.
• Collects high-quality specimens (venous and capillary) from all ages.
• Reviews specimens and requisitions to ensure correct tests and labeling.
• Delivers STAT/urgent specimens to the correct area in a timely manner.
• Assists with training of new staff and completes laboratory task lists.
