Bassett Healthcare Network is seeking a Laboratory Support Technician to collect blood specimens and manage lab orders in a fast-paced clinical setting. The role emphasizes accuracy, confidentiality, and adherence to HIPAA as you work with adult and pediatric patients and coordinate with LIS to ensure timely processing.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, phlebotomy certification preferred, and strong multitasking and communication skills to support lab operations and patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of experience preferred but not required.
• CPT-A Phlebotomy Certification preferred.
• Proficient in HIPAA and patient confidentiality.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood specimen collection on adult and pediatric patients.
• Order laboratory tests in LIS and process specimens for testing.
• Label and verify specimens, ensure proper transport and receipt.
• Communicate with patients, explain procedures and maintain confidentiality.
• Assist training of new staff and maintain compliance with policies.
