Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is hiring a Lab Support Tech I to greet patients, perform phlebotomy, and support specimen processing in a fast-paced hospital lab. You will collect blood samples, handle orders accurately, and maintain PPE and safety protocols while assisting nursing staff and the lab team.

The role emphasizes patient care, attention to detail, and teamwork across departments in a major Central Massachusetts health system.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; valid driver's license.
• Phlebotomy training preferred; ASCP certification or eligibility.
• Fluent English communication skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood samples using venipuncture techniques across all ages.
• Label, prioritize and transport specimens per protocol.
• Restock supplies and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Enter orders and support lab/test activities using hospital systems.
• Answer calls and provide telephone support as needed.
• Adhere to safety, PPE and standard staffing level responsibilities.
