Advocate Health's 60901 Atrium Health Cleveland - Lab is seeking a part-time PRN Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist to support multiple shifts, including nights and weekends.

The role collects blood samples, processes specimens, performs phlebotomy, and handles specimen preparation in a fast-paced clinical environment, adhering to safety protocols and HIPAA. A high school diploma or GED is required; phlebotomy certification is preferred, with solid knowledge of lab equipment and procedures.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of laboratory techniques to perform minor tests.
• Familiarity with lab equipment, testing procedures, and sterilization.
• Ability to use medical terminology to communicate with staff.

Responsibilities

• Collects blood samples by venipuncture or capillary puncture accurately.
• Processes nonblood specimens in a timely manner; prepares documentation.
• Performs phlebotomy and routine laboratory tests under supervision.
• Receives lab orders and ensures proper labeling and handling of specimens.
• Maintains equipment and inventory; ensures workspace is organized and clean.
• Provides phone support to patient care areas and trains new staff.
