Job summary

Advocate Health in North Carolina is seeking a part-time phlebotomy support role serving in a fast-paced clinical lab. This PRN position requires night and weekend availability and offers pay in a range aligned to regional rates.

The role involves venipuncture and capillary testing, specimen handling, registration tasks, and adherence to safety protocols and PPE guidelines. Training is provided, with opportunities to work across chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, and immunology.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Certification in phlebotomy preferred for facilities where phlebotomy is an assigned duty.
• Knowledge of laboratory techniques to perform minor laboratory tests and handling of specimens.
• Familiarity with laboratory safety and universal precautions.

Responsibilities

• Collects and/or processes patient blood by venipuncture and/or capillary puncture accurately.
• Processes nonblood patient specimens in a timely fashion.
• Assists in specimen preparation, receipt, and transport of patient specimens.
• Performs patient registration and provides phone support to care areas.
• Maintains competency with hospital and laboratory information systems as needed.
• Trains new team members and/or students in the department.
• Receives lab orders, prepares documentation, and performs routine laboratory tests.
• Keeps records and labeling compliant with standards; maintains supplies inventory.
