Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a part-time phlebotomist to collect and process patient specimens in a fast-paced clinical setting. The role requires availability for night and weekend shifts and includes training new team members and supporting patient care areas.

The incumbent must perform routine laboratory tests, maintain documentation, and adhere to safety and infection control standards while using laboratory information systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Phlebotomy certification preferred for facilities where phlebotomy is assigned.
• Knowledge of laboratory techniques to perform minor tests and handling of specimens.
• Ability to use hospital/laboratory information systems effectively.

Responsibilities

• Collects and processes patient blood by venipuncture and/or capillary puncture.
• Processes nonblood specimens accurately and promptly.
• Performs phlebotomy following established procedures and age-specific considerations.
