Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a part-time phlebotomy technician to support blood collection and specimen handling in a fast-paced lab setting. You will perform venipuncture, process specimens, and assist with patient registration, while maintaining strong communication with care areas and teams.

The role requires familiarity with hospital LIS and related systems; phlebotomy certification is preferred where applicable, with PRN scheduling and a comprehensive benefits package for eligible staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; phlebotomy certification preferred where applicable.
• Phlebotomy skills and familiarity with venipuncture procedures.
• Customer-facing registration and basic lab coordination experience.

Responsibilities

• Collects and/or processes patient blood via venipuncture/capillary puncture timely and accurately.
• Processes nonblood specimens promptly and correctly.
• Assists in specimen preparation, receipt, and transport of patient samples.
• Performs patient registration and provides courteous phone support.
• Maintains competency with hospital and laboratory information systems.
• Trains new team members and students on department workflows.
