Job summary

Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to obtain blood specimens and support pre-analytical processing in a patient-care focused laboratory environment.

The role requires a High School Diploma, potentially a Phlebotomy Technician certification, and 3–5 years of hospital lab experience preferred. The position emphasizes safety, accuracy, and teamwork within Mass General Brigham.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP-BOC) preferred.
• Experience in a hospital Laboratory 3-5 years preferred; internship or equivalent 0-1 year required.
• Staff adheres to I C.A.R.E. Standards and annual CAP competencies.

Responsibilities

• Verifies that correct specimen and labeling requirements are met for test orders.
• Registers and labels tubes as appropriate.
• Centrifuges and aliquots specimens according to department policy.
• Sorts, stores, and delivers laboratory specimens by department and specimen requirements.
• Works with medical technologists and client services to resolve specimen problems.
• Answers telephones and provides assistance as needed.
