Job summary

Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital in Boston seeks a Phlebotomy Technician to obtain blood specimens from patients in accordance with established procedures, maintaining a professional, customer‑sensitive atmosphere.

Responsibilities include pre-analytical processing and labeling, delivering specimens to the correct lab section, assisting client services and technical staff, and participating in safety and CAP competencies. A $3,000 sign-on bonus is offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Licenses: Phlebotomy Technician (PT) [PBT(ASCP)] preferred.
• Experience in a hospital laboratory 3-5 years preferred.
• Internship or equivalent 0-1 year required.

Responsibilities

• Obtains blood specimens from patients, in accordance with established procedures, while maintaining a professional, customer sensitive atmosphere.
• Verifies correct specimen and labeling requirements for test orders; correctly registers and labels tubes.
• Centrifuges and aliquots specimens according to department policy; sorts, stores, and delivers laboratory specimens.
• Assists client services and technical staff to resolve specimen quality and integrity concerns; answers telephones and provides assistance as needed.
