Job summary

Independence Health System Inc. is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform phlebotomy using various techniques for inpatients and outpatients, ensuring accurate specimen collection and data entry for laboratory procedures.

The role requires following safety protocols, proper patient identification, and timely processing of specimens across rotating shifts to support quality laboratory services.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or higher education.
• Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant training or six (6) months experience performing phlebotomy.
• Knowledge of coding, basic math, and payer/insurance benefits is preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and general office equipment is preferred.
• Medical terminology and specimen knowledge and LIS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately collect specimens from inpatients and outpatients.
• Enter orders and collection data in LIS; verify and track specimens.
• Identify patients using two identifiers and follow blood collection protocols.
• Package and deliver specimens; restock supplies as needed.
• Support urine drug screens and swab collections per protocol.
• Communicate effectively with providers and staff to ensure timely testing.
