Job summary

Independence Health is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform blood collection using venipuncture and capillary techniques for inpatients and outpatients, with accurate data entry and timely specimen handling.

Role emphasizes correct patient identification, safety protocols, and collaboration with laboratory staff. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is offered, with travel between System locations as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or higher education.
• Completion of Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant Training Program or 6 months phlebotomy experience.
• Knowledge of coding, basic math, and payer/insurance benefits preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and general office equipment preferred.
• Medical terminology and specimen knowledge and LIS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy using venous or capillary techniques for inpatients and outpatients.
• Accurately enter orders and collection data; verify and receive specimens.
• Maintain patient safety and proper identification using two identifiers.
• Follow department protocols for blood collection and post-venipuncture care.
• Assist with specimen procurement, urine drug screen collections, and nasal/throat swabs.
