Independence Health System Inc. is seeking a phlebotomy technician to join our laboratory team in Greensburg, IN. The role emphasizes accurate LIS order entry, specimen collection, and adherence to safety protocols.

You will interact with healthcare providers and patients to ensure efficient lab service and high-quality results. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, training in phlebotomy or medical assisting, and familiarity with LIS and MS Office.

Qualificações

• Requires High School Diploma or GED or higher.
• Completion of Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant training or 6 months phlebotomy experience.
• Knowledge of coding, basic math, and payer/insurance benefits is preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and office equipment preferred.
• Medical terminology and specimen knowledge and LIS experience preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Place orders accurately in LIS and monitor reports to track specimens and results.
• Perform venous or capillary phlebotomy following standard precautions.
• Verify patient and specimen identity using two identifiers.
• Follow department protocols for blood collection and post-venipure care.
• Respond to pages promptly and prioritize tasks accordingly.
• Maintain low blood culture contamination rate (<2%).
• Assist with specimen procurement and urine drug screen collections.
• Handle nasal and throat swab collections and transport specimens.
• Prepare samples and document receipt of orders; manage downtime appropriately.
• Interact professionally with healthcare providers, coworkers, and patients to ensure timely, quality lab service.
