Qualifications

  • Proficient with Laboratory Information System (LIS) functions.
  • Accurate data entry of orders and collection information.
  • Ability to identify patients and specimens using identifiers.
  • Adherence to safety and infection control procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates competency in LIS by placing orders, tracking reports, and looking up test codes and demographics.
  • Follow standard precautions for venous or capillary phlebotomy.
  • Ensure patient and specimen identification using two identifiers.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare providers and patients to expedite services.
  • Answer calls professionally and manage workflow to minimize wait times.
  • Maintain specimen flow, from receipt to testing, including downtime processing.
  • Deliver specimens to the laboratory promptly and package for safe transport.
  • Assist with specimen procurement and urine drug screens following protocols.
  • Perform nasal and throat swab collections as needed.
  • Monitor collection lists and ensure inventory is up-to-date.
