Hire Consulting Services in Colonial Heights, VA is seeking a Phlebotomist for a 3-month project with potential for permanent placement. Responsibilities include performing venipuncture, labeling and processing specimens, and ensuring specimen integrity per protocol.

The role requires 6 months of phlebotomy experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting and a valid state phlebotomy certification. Schedule is 7:45am-4:30pm, Monday to Friday, on-site in Colonial Heights, VA.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures. Explains the venipuncture process clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check test requisitions or computer labels to ensure accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport.
• Store specimen samples according to required temperature and protocol; comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls, read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
