Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in Chicago is seeking a full-time Phlebotomist to perform venipuncture and specimen processing across Lakeview and West Loop client sites. The schedule includes Lakeview Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:30am–5pm, and West Loop Wednesdays and Fridays 8:30am–5pm, with Lakeview eventually becoming the primary location.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy certification or CMA certification preferred.
• Experience in healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and other lab specimen collections per age-related standards.
• Communicates with patients using AIDET and ensures patient safety.
• Receives and reviews physician orders and enters accurate lab orders.
• Performs post-phlebotomy patient care and notifies staff of issues.
• Processes specimens with labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting and packaging.
• Uses email, EMR and lab systems to retrieve patient data and manage orders.
• Maintains a clean, safe work environment and adheres to policies.
