Job summary

MDS Staffing seeks a Phlebotomist in San Antonio, TX for a 3-month contract with potential for permanent placement. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm. Oncology diagnostic phlebotomy experience is required, with 1–2 years preferred.

Responsibilities include performing blood draws, labeling and processing specimens, and maintaining accurate records while complying with OSHA and DEP regulations. Certification in phlebotomy and a HS diploma are required.

Qualifications

• Valid phlebotomy certification is required in the state of employment.
• Minimum 6 months' venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to procedures; ensures correct labeling and packing for transport.
• Explain venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients as required.
• Match laboratory requisitions to specimen tubes and ensure 100% accuracy.
• Follow OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual trainings.
• Answer inquiries and review laboratory results as needed.
