Job summary

Sora Resource Group in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contract position with potential for permanent placement. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm, with an estimated duration of 3 months plus potential for perm.

Qualifications

Minimum 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
Understand physicians' orders and match requisitions to specimen tubes.
Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.
Package specimens for transport and store samples at required temperatures.
Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings.
Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to address questions.
