NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a Phlebotomist for the Lab Procurement Dist Admin team on a per diem basis. The role encompasses routine phlebotomy, central receiving duties, and processing specimens for send-outs to reference laboratories.

The position emphasizes accurate patient identification, proper collection techniques, and maintaining patient confidentiality while supporting lab operations across on-site and off-site locations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required; Phlebotomy certificate preferred or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• Good keyboard, typing and general office skills.
• Knowledge of OSHA and Standard Precautions.
• Experience in phlebotomy and specimen handling preferred.

Responsibilities

• Phlebotomy/Capillary Collection.
• Greets patient and identifies patient.
• Prepares patient in appropriate position.
• Selects tubes for tests and follows order of draw.
• Performs site sterilization and proper labeling of tubes.
• Maintains clean, professional working area and phlebotomy tray.
• Performs EKGs and delivers patient care with confidentiality.
• Communicates findings to the supervisor and documents appropriately.
• May draw outpatients at off-site locations.
