Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk in Suffolk County seeks a Supervisor, Phlebotomy to lead phlebotomy operations across the hospital. You will direct staffing, workflow, compliance with NYSDOH, DNV, CMS, and ensure timely collection and processing of patient specimens.

You will oversee customer service centers, manage budgeting and inventory, train staff, and collaborate with HR on staffing. A strong phlebotomy background and regulatory knowledge are required.

Qualifications

• AA or BS preferred; at least 3 years of phlebotomy supervisor experience.
• Phlebotomy Certification required.
• Customer service skills with knowledge of lab and hospital information systems.
• Knowledge of insurance providers, ICD-10 CM coding, medical necessity, and terminology.
• Six years of phlebotomy experience in hospital/healthcare settings.
• Analytical skills to develop procedures and resolve problems.
• Interpersonal skills to direct and assign work to subordinates.
• Strong organizational skills and computer background.
• Knowledge of Regulatory Agencies (DNV, NYSDOH).

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and control all phases of laboratory phlebotomy operations.
• Supervise workflow, staffing, compliance, and problem resolution for timely specimen processing.
• Maintain manuals, procedures, and adherence to protocols.
• Direct staff training and competency development for phlebotomy personnel.
• Oversee budgeting, inventory, and cost efficiency.
