Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a Phlebotomist - Lab Procurement Dist Admin - Per Diem to join the Clinical Labs team. The role involves routine phlebotomy and central receiving duties, plus preparing specimens for send-outs and recording results in the laboratory computer system.

Minimum qualifications include a High School diploma and/or Phlebotomy Certificate; prior phlebotomy/lab support experience is preferred. Per diem position requires accuracy, confidentiality and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Phlebotomy Certificate preferred or 5 years experience.
• General Office skills: typing, filing, phone.
• General computer skills.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations.
• Knowledge of Standard Precautions.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy and related lab receiving duties.
• Prepare specimens for send-outs and enter results into the lab system.
• Explain procedures to patients and ensure privacy and safety.
• Maintain clean, organized work area and proper labeling of samples.
• Assist with EKGs and related tasks when needed.
• Support accessioning and data entry as required.
