Job summary

Key People in Washington DC is seeking a Phlebotomist to support blood collection in a fast-paced lab. The role involves performing venipunctures, labeling specimens, and ensuring accurate data entry, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 8am to 5pm.

You will work with geriatric patients, follow OSHA regulations, and participate in department trainings while maintaining specimen integrity and proper transport procedures.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 5 work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain clearly the venipuncture process to patients and other specimen collection requirements.
• Demonstrate technique using straight and butterfly needles.
• Understand and follow physicians' orders; match requisitions to specimens.
• Package specimens for transport and ensure correct labeling and temperature control.
• Attend annual department trainings and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Respond to inquiries by reading laboratory results and answering calls.
