Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
• Minimum of 5 years' venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws and label/centrifuge specimens while recording maintenance data.
• Collect and store specimens per established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture process clearly to patients.
• Demonstrate technique with straight or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand physicians' orders.
• Match requisition forms to tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze samples as required.
• Check test requisitions to ensure 100% accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport.
• Store specimens by required temperature and follow transport protocols to preserve integrity.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer calls and read lab results to address inquiries.
