Job summary

Clear Concepts, Inc. is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contract position in Washington DC. The role requires comfortable interaction with geriatric patients and performing venipunctures with standard needles or butterfly needles.

Schedule is Mon–Fri, 8am-5pm, with a potential for permanent hire. Responsibilities include specimen collection, labeling, centrifugation, data maintenance, and ensuring adherence to OSHA/DEP regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy certification required, as applicable by state of employment.
• Minimum 5 years of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
• Demonstrate technique with straight or butterfly needles.
• Understand physicians' orders and match requisitions to specimens.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
• Ensure accuracy by verifying requisitions against scripts.
• Package specimens for transport and store at required temperatures.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer calls and read lab results to satisfy inquiries.
