Job summary

Joseph Michaels International seeks a contract Phlebotomist in Washington, DC (Georgia Ave NW) for a 3-month assignment with potential for permanent placement. The role involves blood draws, specimen labeling, and venipuncture in a fast-paced setting, with a Mon–Fri 8am–5pm schedule.

Responsibilities include handling specimens, ensuring data accuracy, and maintaining OSHA-compliant procedures. A phlebotomy certification and a high school diploma or GED are required.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 5 work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 1 year of experience

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains the venipuncture process to patients clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate technique using straight or butterfly needles.
• Understand all physicians' orders.
• Match requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze as required.
• Verify test requisitions or labels against scripts for accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport.
• Store specimens at correct temperatures and adhere to transport protocols.
