Job summary

The Phlebotomist role in Washington DC is a 3-month contract with potential for permanent placement. You will perform venipunctures, label and process specimens, and maintain strict sample integrity according to protocol.

Responsibilities include collecting specimens, ensuring correct patient information, and complying with OSHA/DEP regulations while delivering courteous communication to patients and healthcare teams.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed.
• Minimum of 5 work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 1 year of phlebotomy experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws (venipuncture), label specimens, centrifuge, and update patient information.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
• Demonstrate technique with straight and butterfly needles.
• Ensure test requisitions match tubes and package specimens for transport.
• Assign proper labeling and temperature controls to maintain specimen integrity.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer calls and read lab results to respond to inquiries.
