Job summary

Advocate Health in Milwaukee's 60222 WI ACL Laboratories - AAH Mayfair Road Clinic is seeking a phlebotomist to join our lab team. You will verify patient identity, collect blood and other specimens, label samples accurately, and prepare materials for testing in a fast-paced environment.

No prior experience required beyond High School; basic computer skills and strong communication are valued. You will support billing and inventory, train staff, and ensure safe, compliant specimen handling from

Qualifications

• Demonstrates knowledge and experience in phlebotomy or related laboratory function.
• Basic computer skills including experience using computer software applications.
• Keyboarding and typing skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Good listening skills.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Demonstrated customer service skills to interface effectively with physicians, patients, visitors, and other healthcare employees.

Responsibilities

• Verifies positive patient identification to ensure patient safety. Assesses patient reactions to specimen procurement.
• Performs Venipuncture and collects specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients according to protocol.
• Obtains specimens according to priority and scheduled draw times and ensures proper labeling.
• Performs limited testing under CLIA guidelines according to policies.
• Answers and screens telephone calls and assists with inventory, billing and other functions.
• Receives, sorts, and tracks specimens for transport and processes for testing.
• Orders and verifies test requests and runs quality control checks.
• Performs laboratory result entry in the computer system.
• Instructs employees and students in phlebotomy and specimen processing.
• Demonstrates knowledge to provide age-appropriate care per department standards.
