Advocate Health’s WI ACL Laboratories - AMC Lakeland is hiring a part-time phlebotomist. You will perform venipuncture and collect specimens from newborns to adults, ensuring proper labeling and specimen integrity. The schedule is second shift, 20 hours per week, from 1400 to 2230, with rotating weekends and holidays and occasional varying start times.

No prior experience required beyond high school. This role includes patient safety verification, data entry, and collaboration with the billing

Qualifications

• Demonstrates knowledge and experience in phlebotomy or related laboratory function.
• Basic computer skills including experience using computer software applications.
• Keyboarding and typing skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Good listening skills.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Demonstrated customer service skills to interface effectively with physicians, patients, visitors, and other healthcare employees.

Responsibilities

• Verifies positive patient identification to ensure patient safety. Assesses patient reactions to specimen procurement.
• Performs Venipuncture and collects specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients according to established protocol.
• Ensures specimens are properly labeled and suitable for testing; resolves identification and requisition problems.
• Performs limited testing under CLIA guidelines according to established policies and procedures.
• Answers and screens telephone calls; assists with inventory and supports Billing and other functions.
• Orders and verifies test requests; documents information for QA; runs quality control checks and notifies providers of critical results.
• Performs laboratory result entry in the computer system.
• Performs proficiency testing and distributes reports.
• Instructs employees and students in phlebotomy and data entry functions.
