Advocate Health is seeking a part-time Phlebotomy Technician to join our Lakeland laboratory team in Wisconsin. The role involves venipuncture, specimen collection, labeling, and basic testing under CLIA guidelines. First shift, 0.4 FTE (16 hours/week), rotating weekends and holidays.

Requires a High School diploma; no prior experience required. Strong communication, data entry, and computer skills are essential to support patient care and billing processes in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates knowledge and experience in phlebotomy or related laboratory function.
• Basic computer skills including experience using computer software applications.
• Keyboarding and typing skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Good listening skills.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Demonstrated customer service skills to interface effectively with physicians, patients, visitors, and other healthcare employees.

Responsibilities

• Verifies positive patient identification to ensure patient safety.
• Performs venipuncture and collects specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients according to protocol.
• Ensures specimens are properly labeled and suitable for testing; resolves identification or requisition problems.
• Performs limited testing under CLIA guidelines according to policies.
• Answers and screens telephone calls; assists with inventory and billing support.
• Receives, sorts, packages, and tracks specimens for transport; processes specimens for testing.
