Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a phlebotomy technician for Milton Hospital. The role entails obtaining venous blood specimens, performing EKGs, and ensuring proper documentation and specimen handling in a fast-paced laboratory setting.

Under supervision, you will follow physician orders, maintain equipment, and support patient care while upholding safety and confidentiality standards. Weekend and holiday rotation may apply.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of applicable experience in a laboratory setting including phlebotomy and EKG.
• ASCP or NCA certification preferred.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and general computer skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and handle sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Follow physician orders in the Laboratory system and document patient demographics.
• Independently obtain venous blood specimens and correctly identify patients.
• Receive and route specimens by test urgency; store specimens per procedure.
• Perform EKGs on outpatients.
• Maintain department competencies and assist with training.
• Answer phones, relay messages, and fax results per policy.
