Job summary

Top Dog Recruiting seeks a Phlebotomist to join a contract role in the Austin area. The position involves performing blood draws, labeling and processing specimens, and ensuring proper handling per protocol. The assignment runs for about 3 months with potential for permanent placement.

Responsibilities include venipuncture, specimen labeling, transport, and maintaining compliance with safety regulations. Availability for typical daytime hours and occasional additional hours is expected.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously, demonstrate technique with needles as required.
• Fully understand all physicians' orders and match requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Store specimens at required temperatures and transport to maintain integrity; comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
