Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a phlebotomy technician to draw pediatric, adult and geriatric patients via venipuncture and finger sticks, and to perform waived testing and routine laboratory tasks. This role includes clerical duties in preparation for processing.

Under supervision of the Site Manager, you will monitor patient flow, prepare specimens, handle billing paperwork, and ensure timely transport of samples to the central lab.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months phlebotomy experience.
• BLS certification through American Heart Association or plan to obtain within one year.

Responsibilities

• Draw venipuncture and finger sticks for pediatric, adult and geriatric patients.
• Perform waived testing of blood and urine specimens and routine tests.
• Prepare specimens for courier pickup and laboratory processing.
• Document encounters, lab requisitions and third-party billing paperwork.
• Label tubes, process samples and report results to providers.
