Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to join our hospital-based laboratory team. You will perform phlebotomy draws, verify patient identity, and document specimen details accurately to support timely lab processing.

Responsibilities include registering patients, entering physician orders, labeling specimens, and maintaining EMR documentation, with a focus on patient comfort and safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy experience or certification.
• At least one year of clerical or secretarial experience.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Registers patients.
• Enters physician orders.
• Prepares the patient, verifies identification and physician orders, draws blood with attention to patient comfort, and labels specimen accurately with essential information.
• Receives, and packs specimens, expediting the delivery process for lab processing.
• Documents receipt of specimens in electronic medical record system.
• Runs daily reports and addresses issues as pertinent.
