Job summary

Concord Hospital Health System seeks a phlebotomist to collect venous and capillary blood samples for laboratory analysis in patient service centers, the main hospital facility, and client sites. You will handle specimens, perform capillary glucose testing, and support clerical duties within the laboratory.

Reporting to the Supervisor Non-Technical, you will contribute to patient service excellence and adhere to QA/QI processes while using hospital information systems.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Phlebotomy training preferred.
  • Experience in lab specimen collection or phlebotomy helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains and processes venous and capillary blood samples required for laboratory analysis from patients of all ages upon request.
  • Provides customer service to patients and stakeholders of the laboratory department.
  • Assists in training of phlebotomy students, nursing or laboratory personnel, as directed, in regards to obtaining, handling and transport of specimens, and other areas related to phlebotomy.
  • Demonstrates compliance with corporate, departmental and job-specific requirements.
  • Identifies problems related to work activities, including involvement in Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement efforts within the department.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in utilization of the hospital/laboratory information and technology systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
