The Philanthropy Associate II at University of Maryland Medicine plays a key role in advancing board engagement and fundraising effectiveness across UMSOM and University of Maryland Medical Center. Reporting to the Director of Board Relations, this position translates engagement strategies into coordinated actions and strengthens the team's capacity to provide consistent donor engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum two (2) years of fundraising, philanthropy, or client/customer relations experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and donor database systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge, Salesforce, or similar).

Responsibilities

• Supports individualized board member engagement strategies, including meeting preparation, documentation, and follow‑up to help ensure consistent and meaningful engagement.
• Maintains board engagement tracking and monitors action items and timelines to advance engagement and fundraising activities and ensure timely follow‑through.
• Supports frontline gift officers with board members and board‑connected prospects through meeting preparation, reporting, coordination, and follow‑up.
• Prepares reports on board giving, participation, and fundraising activity to inform individualized board member outreach and engagement strategies.
• Supports board working group and committee activity through meeting logistics, materials, documentation, and action‑item follow‑up.
• Supports mission‑focused board communications and engagement activities in partnership with Board Relations and frontline gift officers.
• Tracks board‑related prospects, relationships, outreach, and next steps and proactively prompts team members on action items to maintain momentum on engagement and fundraising strategies.
• Maintains board engagement and participation information to support board and term reviews and identify opportunities for deeper engagement.
• Supports additional fundraising, stewardship, donor engagement, events, reporting, and philanthropy activities as needed.
• Collaborates across the philanthropy enterprise, safeguards confidential information, and adheres to institutional policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Due to the nature of fundraising and alumni relations, all employees share responsibility for maintaining appropriate office and telephone coverage.
