Job summary

Shriners Children’s Ohio is seeking a PRN Philanthropy Assistant to join our Philanthropy team. This role collaborates on events, donor cultivation, stewardship programs and donor database management, reporting to the Senior Director of Philanthropy.

  • Process donations and prepare acknowledgment letters and donor correspondence.

  • Create monthly fundraising reports and other database reports as needed.
  • Draft donor correspondence and letters of acknowledgment for gifts and pledges.
  • Assist with planning and execution of major fundraising events; handle day-of logistics.

Job Description

Shriners Children's Ohio is seeking candidates for a PRN Philanthropy Assistant to join our Philanthropy team. The Philanthropy Assistant will collaborate with the Philanthropy team in planning and executing special events, donor cultivation events, stewardship programs, and other engagement activities, as well as administrative operations including in-kind donations, donor acknowledgment, and donor database management. The role will support the stewardship of donors and key relationships, build awareness, and increase engagement. This position reports to the Senior Director of Philanthropy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides support to the Senior Director of Philanthropy in the fulfillment of departmental duties
  • Processes donations and prepares acknowledgment letters and other donor correspondence
  • Tracks, updates, and maintains all prospective and current donor activities in the appropriate donor database system
  • Creates monthly fundraising reports and other database reports as needed
  • Drafts donor correspondence and prepares letters of acknowledgment for all donations, pledges, and letters of intent
  • Documents standard procedures and guidelines as required for donations processing and other Philanthropy Office procedures to ensure consistency
  • Supports the planning and execution of major fundraising events
  • Serves as main "day of" logistics orchestrator and troubleshooter; facilitates post-event follow up activities; and conducts post-event appraisals to determine success
  • Maintains guest lists, gathers and prepares registration materials, and other duties as assigned
  • Gains proficiency in event management tools such as Classy Live, serving as staff lead for that tool
  • Assists philanthropy team members with individual donor prospect identification, research, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. This includes developing stewardship relationships with select donors and volunteers.
  • Assists the team in maintaining cooperative relationships with affiliated Shrine Temples, Shrine Clubs, and local community support groups (3rd party events) for philanthropic support
  • Creates and maintains confidential donor prospect records
  • Ensures availability of all forms, resource materials and office supplies through regular inventory and procures items needed within purchasing and departmental budget guidelines
  • Assists with expense reporting; travel and meeting coordination; calendar management, and file maintenance
  • Supports departmental meetings through date and location scheduling: communication; attendance tracking; agenda and material and presentation preparation; logistics coordination; meeting minutes recording and distribution, and follow up activities
Required Qualifications
  • 2 years of Philanthropy experience

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Healthcare fundraising experience
  • Experience with Blackbaud or other CRM systems
Compensation

Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
